About Us
Sunil Thaper, Managing Partner of VSR Thaper & Partners, supports and serves the dynamic startup and SME landscape in Dubai. As a qualified Chartered Accountant, he has been instrumental in advising clients across various sectors, including global media, large multinational conglomerates, manufacturing, healthcare, and financial services.
The roots of VSR Thaper & Partners trace back to 1977 when brothers Vijay and Krishan Thaper, set up a modest accounting firm in Warwickshire, England. Their practice swiftly expanded into the West Midlands, becoming a cornerstone for the South Asian business community. Vijay, a Chartered Accountant, and Krishan, who would later become a Justice of the Peace, carved a niche in providing advisory services to start-ups and small businesses primed for growth.
The firm flourished for over 30 years until Vijay’s passing in 2010, laying the foundation for what would become VSR Thaper & Partners. Sunil’s journey took him further, moving to the United Arab Emirates in 2014, where he gained extensive local and international experience, notably in the Oil & Gas, technology, and real estate & construction sectors.
By 2023, Sunil recognized a market opportunity and established VSR Thaper & Partners in Dubai, envisioning a firm that not only continues where Vijay and Krishan left off, but also propels the firm into the future with innovative services tailored to the evolving needs of startups and SMEs.

Vijay Kumar Thaper FCA

Vijay Kumar Thaper may not have witnessed the inception of VSR, but his legacy is a cornerstone of its philosophy. The principles and expertise he championed continue to shape the firm’s practices today.
Migrating to Warwickshire in the UK during the 1970s, Vijay quickly made his mark as a proficient professional with a passion for finance. He embarked on the path to becoming a Chartered Accountant, achieving his qualification with Coopers & Lybrand (now part of PwC) in Warwickshire, with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.
In 1977, Vijay, alongside his brother, launched their accountancy firm.
Starting from their home and later expanding to offices in Warwickshire and Birmingham, they established a practice that became integral to the South Asian business community and enjoyed success for over three decades.
Vijay’s passing in 2010 marked the end of an era for the original firm, which was subsequently sold and continues to operate without the Thaper family’s involvement. Yet, the foundation he laid continues to inspire VSR Thaper & Partners in its commitment to excellence and service.
Sunil Thaper ACA, FCCA, UAECA
Managing Partner
Sunil Thaper is the founding Managing Partner at VSR Thaper & Partners.
After qualifying as a Chartered Certified Accountant with the ACCA in 2008 and later achieving Fellowship status in 2013, he furthered his credentials by becoming a Chartered Accountant with the ICAEW in 2019. Recognizing the potential within the UAE’s startup ecosystem, Sunil established VSR Thaper & Partners to deliver expert financial and operational guidance to startups and SMEs in the region.
The UAE’s reputation as a global startup hub makes it an ideal location for VSR Thaper & Partners to offer its services to a growing client base.
Bringing over 19 years of financial leadership experience from the UK and UAE, Sunil has developed a deep expertise in areas such as financial strategy, resource allocation, and the management of digital assets, as well as in facilitating capital raising and maintaining investor relationships.
His skills bridge the gap between traditional finance and the evolving tech sector, focusing on thorough financial analysis and the integration of digital assets. Sunil leverages modern IT tools and process automation to enhance reporting and data analysis capabilities, which supports informed decision-making.
